The sun has always been a strongly positive symbol in any culture. It is, along with water, the life principle of anything and on this account it has been associated with life, positivity, energy, joy and success.

Also, the fact of dieing every day in the red of the sunset to be born again from the red of dawn has inspirde the myth of the phoenix, which at the end of her life dies and is born again in her own fire, symbolizing thus eternity and cyclicity (same as the circle that represents it).
