Owls, and barn owls, were respected by shamans on account of their ability to see through the deepest darkness, and called as guides for talking to spirits. Cherry blossoms symbolize the "carpe diem", living here and now, every moment, as if it was the most beautiful and the last. Having these two symbols together can be seen as understanding that the real life must be lived moment by moment, valuing everything.
