This Polynesian pec and torso tattoo was designed for Alexander to extend a half sleeve he already had which ended on the shoulder, and we kept the samelevel of detail so that the two parts could blend in together.
The pec part is dedicated to family, with a turtle representing it, having on the shell symbols of unity (flax leaves and braid) and support always granted to the loved ones (the two chasing birds).
Family will always stay together through every change (the waves) with tenacity and adaptability (the octopus tentacle).
There are 6 people around it representing his syblings and parents.
The sun in front of the turtle is a symbol of joy and eternity while coconut leaves around it represent prosperity, with stepping stones to symbolize all the things learnt, protected by the ancestors above.
The torso part is related to his life, with initial adversities (thorns and fa'atigipusa) that led to a difficult path full of challenges (the path of Kamehameha) faced with strength, tenacity (the spearheads and the hammerhead shark with a warrior in it), and adaptability (shark teeth).
The steps of Mataora symbolize his continuous improvement and doing better while the lizard protects him along this journey (the row of birds).
